As a Manager of a small residential Assisted Living facility, Elysium ALH, I have visited this place on multiple occasions. I have never had a bad experience here. The place is always clean and personnel/staff from front desk to Nurses, social workers, doctors, are wiling to go the extra mile to help and guide you in the right direction.

My experience here is relatively uneventful. However, this place suffers from the same problems that are all too common these days. Too many kids, raised on automation and technology, that pay no attention to detail and have no sense of urgency about doing their job. For whatever reason, my insurance company kept telling them that I was going to be discharged long before I was supposed to be. The first time it happened, it was pretty alarming as I still had several weeks left of my antibiotic therapy. So when the social worker approached me about planning for my discharge the following week, I had to spend a few hours making phone calls to my insurance to find out that it was a mistake. That was the first time. I was pretty upset because she didn't ask any questions. I was there for six weeks of IV antibiotic therapy. And it never occurred to anyone to ask why I was being discharged after two weeks. So you can imagine my alarm when a week or so later, I get a call from my daughter, who was frantically on her way because she got a message that I was being discharged. I couldn't go more than a couple of weeks without worrying about weather or not I had a place to stay. The kid, my social worker, never figured out that my insurance company needed to be managed. She just saw that my insurance was only approving a couple of weeks at a time, and assumed that meant I was getting discharged. She didn't bother to ask questions like "if he's supposed to be here at least six weeks, why is he being discharged early?" She just shrugged her shoulders and said, he must be being discharged. Nevermind the streets were putting this guy through. The food.... I didn't expect much. But it seems this place, like all the others, don't really pay attention to daily caloric needs. My problem wasn't that the food was bad. It was that they didn't give me enough. I'm a grown man. 185 lbs. They would give me snacks and call it a meal. When I complained, they responded with "we'll give you double portions". I needed triple and quadruple portions if I wasn't going to bed hungry. To their credit, they really worked with me on this. The problem wasn't getting it to be consistent. If the food was right for breakfast and lunch, the person in charge of dinner didn't get the memo. I ended up ordering out for my dinner more nights than not. The kicker came today. While I was there, I had a couple of Amazon deliveries sent there. Recently, I had a package inadvertently sent there instead of to my home. I tried to find someone who could drive out there and pick it up for me. But I was unsuccessful. I called and asked them if they could drop it in the mail for me. I would pay whatever postage. I was told "we can't". That same shrugging of shoulders attitude. So I offered to email her a return label for Amazon and she could just give it to the next ups driver who came by. For some reason this she could. Even though it meant canceling and returning the package and starting over. Even though we had no idea when a ups driver would be there again. After getting her email address wrong and having to start over, I just gave up. My dentist told me to get this very expensive toothpaste. That's what was in the package. So I'm just going to eat that. So rather than put my package in a big yellow envelope, and put it in the outgoing mail, she would do almost the same thing for UPS. I'm not that old, but it wasn't too long ago, when young people cared enough to go outside their comfort zone. I know I had a sense of urgency about requests from my customers and clients. I felt, and still do to this day, anxiety about saying "no" to my clients and customers. That was the goal. Always look for ways to say yes. But today, it just feels like "I dont know how, or that's not my job" are all too acceptable reasons to say no. I didn't have a lot of problems at this place, but when I did, there was a shoulder-shrugging 20-something at the bottom of it.

Main thing is the staff. They were always kind and considerate. They answered all my questions and helped with all the little things that make a difference. I always felt comfortable with the care Leon was getting. The only disappointment was the food. Leon did not care for it. Thanks to everyone for their care and their smiles.

About this data
How to read this page
Star ratings vs. Care Quality Score: The Google star rating reflects visitor and family opinions collected from public reviews. The Care Quality Score is an independent metric derived entirely from federal inspection data — the two measure different things, and comparing them side-by-side gives a fuller picture.
Where this data comes from
All clinical data on this page originates from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the federal agency that certifies and inspects every Medicare- and Medicaid-participating nursing home in the United States. Reviews are imported verbatim from public Google business listings.
