  Villa Valencia is really really nice. My Mom has been to a number of SNF over the past 10 years and it’s the absolute best. RN Joy greeted us with a warm smile and infectious enthusiasm; receptionist Karen is professional detail-focused and exceptionally organized; the director Spencer checks on my Mom daily and makes her feel cared for and important. The PT staff have done wonders for her strength- she’s now able to walk on the outside of the building and in the garden with their kind assistance. For visitors it is open spacious and airy with ample parking. Mom also likes the food - especially the soup - and has gained weight during her stay and she says that it’s as good as home since they have bingo, arts and crafts, and frequent guests as entertainment. Lastly, her Hoag internal medicine physician Dr Wollank has personally visited her twice and has kept close contact with us to monitor her progress. It’s really a special place

  Becoming a patient in a skilled nursing facility is not a goal anyone I've known has ever set for themselves because something bad has happened to you for which physical & occupational therapy is needed so you can regain a pre-event lifestyle. I'm an 80 year old who was in great shape (gym 5+ days/wk) with no restrictions and then a freak accident caused my right arm and leg to be severely injured, requiring a stay at Villa Valencia for 7 weeks after hospitalization. The care I received was brilliant & let me return home fully able to get around safely and prepare me for the more intensive outpatient therapy I'll need for several months to restore my physical functionality. I'm enclosing part of a 'thank you' letter I sent to their administrator detailing why I was so lucky to have been a patient there (Medicare.gov rates these institutions and Villa Valencia is 1 of only 2 skilled nursing facilities they rated Five Stars in all of Orange County, CA). Here's some of my letter: "I want to thank you and your staff for preparing me for returning home successfully, fulfilling your promise not to release me before I was ready. I’ve been home now for almost 2 weeks, get around quite independently with a walker and am not a burden to my wife or family. As a patient in a skilled nursing facility, so many new things happen every day, especially when you're in pain, uncertain of outcomes, and generally have your world disrupted. It’s a tribute to the professionalism of everyone associated with your organization that made my stay & recovery to this point a satisfying experience. While there are so many people at Villa Valencia that contributed to my recovery, many of whom I never met, there were some with whom I came into frequent contact who I will especially remember. Three CNAs who I spent many daytime shifts with were Delicia, Christian, & Lyndsey & nighttime people who were particularly memorable were Lana, M Diamond, Jessica & Irma although my interactions with them were limited they were always kind and thoughtful. Again, there were dozens of others who cared for me with great compassion as well, and I’m certain equal numbers on other hallways who I never met that met the high standards that these few that I mentioned exhibited. A true testament to the care in which you take screening and hiring. On to the rehabilitation team, all of whom I worked with were outstanding. The ones who had the most effect on me, in no particular order, were Eric, Tamra, Sergio, Allison, Patrick, Alyssa, Greg, Chloe, Sunnae, Bessie & Lillian – again apologies to the many I left out. Special thanks to Jovi who went above and beyond to provide me with whole food, plant based meals so that I could maintain my diet while still getting enough protein for my recovery. I trust I treated all of your staff with respect & dignity even in my worst moments, early on in my stay." TO THE READERS OF THIS REVIEW: If you or a loved one are unfortunate to need the services of a skilled nursing facility, you won't find one better than Villa Valencia. I understand most stays are for far shorter time than mine but the staff is committed to having you return home so that you can function safely.
