After 3 months in this facility I want to compliment them on their smooth operation and their extraordinary staff. And Ana Benitez (the administrator in charge of social services) in particular, for her kindness and professionalism.

I’m about to be discharged in a couple of days, and I’m looking forward to visiting occasionally to see all the staff people who have helped me. I’ll miss them and their warm smiles…

November 22nd 2025. No communication about an investigation from the September fall that is to supposed to be standard.

I SERIOUSLY question if they literally EVER reveal anything or just wait for it to blow over and forgotten - which means we should NEVER and HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE.

I've told them this and I'm putting the idea out there publically: People can simply create their own web page, which is not under their control and use search engine optimization so the public and loved ones of other residents are aware of what's going on. If even after this is out there I think it speaks volumes if they continue to ignore concerns.

September 2025, after writing a comment noting concern over fall risk their new Facebook page was removed. Previously they purged the old Facebook page which is still there but only as a stub. Clearly they want to censor the information.

7/24/25 update:

3.1 star on Yelp, they put three 5 star reviews on the front page of the website but of course there's average vs. hand picked ones. According to a front desk receptionist Kevan the current director is never there by the time she gets there, which is 2pm M-F. We have a name that makes it sound personal but what does it mean if we cannot reach that person with concerns? I will report back as to whether and when they reply to the website contact form.

7/11/24 update:

MPA Has started promoting social media but deleted all previous content on Facebook. There is no direct answer as to which day of the current 14 day quarantine Unit 2 is in beyond "the first week" so either people can't answer /don't know or won't answer - statement from 2020 is still on their website. Facebook still has the Mentions which I believe MPA will not be able to censor, it is up to the public to post that though.

Edit: Did finally get an answer from the DON/Director of Nursing, currently on day 4 as it was 7/1 that the continuous negative testing days started. As always it was not easy to get a direct answer to direct questions.
____

I think the fairest thing I can say is there is no consistent way to rate places if the turnover is high, since the people working there will not even be the same anymore.

The current administrator seems to be trying, and I understand changes come slowly. The context here is I have a relative that has been there for 5 years, so long term care. Honestly it's kind of like the devil you know situation, because I can't honestly compare when I haven't spent nearly as much time at another facility, but I don't believe it's the worse although I DO think the entire industry is fraught with problems - and it would be extremely naive to think it's just this place and you can just read reviews here and there to make a good decision, especially if the staff today won't be around tomorrow. Just know that long term care is hugely different than the unit downstairs.

The Ombudsman is only an advocate, and I don't get the sense CDPH is really in touch. They went out to investigate (I called when it was under a different administrator) and the report didn't even have a number on it. What government agency wouldn't have a tracking number on a report?

Maybe Google will shadow ban this and it's more of an advice/tip post than a review, because honestly I have found no substitute for spending A LOT OF TIME ON SITE. Unfortunately the reality is there won't be much help from the powers that be unless things gets REALLY extreme, and even then nothing may happen. It's important to know the reality we're dealing with.

First of all, I have to start with Ana, the Social Services Director. Ana helped me through a very difficult time with my mother and is still helping me. She went above and beyond to support my mom and our family. Her kindness and empathy and general dedication to her position is admirable. Ana has been a saint for us. As to the facility, these places are always a tad difficult for one to visit, but Marin Post Acute tries very hard to change that. The facility is super clean and the rooms are very nice. The staff is attentive and always kind. The visiting doctors, especially Dr. Brindley are amazing. The nurses, CNAs and front desk people, all so helpful and kind. Stephan the entertainment or event coordinator is so cheerful, he knew all the long term patients names. My mom was in another facility a few years ago for a brief stay and it didn't come close to this place. I am very grateful to Marin Post Acute and I hope they continue to keep striving to be the best, because the effort really shows right now. Thank you to all the staff, too many to name, for all the care you have given and continue to give my mom.

Things to improve would be the phone system, it can be very difficult to get through. Also some of the phones in the rooms don't work. That said, I have noticed an improvement in last few days so maybe that is already being worked on.

Keep it up MPA, you are really doing a good job!

This is my 4th stay at MPA. Like any place this big and complicated, there are good things and not so good. Most of the nurses are excellent. Of special note: jenna, angelica,Tonka. The quality of care provided by CNAs ranges from 0-10. Of special good note : Ross, Kaylee,Breuny,Carlos.
Social Services Director Ana is amazing! I don't know how she does it, she deserves a bundle of gold stars!
Cleanliness of facility is A+
Food mostly D-
Big improvement would be if CNAs could be encouraged to think of patients as "friends" not an unpleasant task to be endured.
That's All I have energy to type

About this data
How to read this page
Star ratings vs. Care Quality Score: The Google star rating reflects visitor and family opinions collected from public reviews. The Care Quality Score is an independent metric derived entirely from federal inspection data — the two measure different things, and comparing them side-by-side gives a fuller picture.
Where this data comes from
All clinical data on this page originates from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the federal agency that certifies and inspects every Medicare- and Medicaid-participating nursing home in the United States. Reviews are imported verbatim from public Google business listings.
What to do next
