Staff treats families of patients terribly, bayonetting the wounded by rubbing their faces in the amount of care given already given by the family. In our case it was someone who CHOSE to live on the streets after years of trying to help. We also have other special needs members. Worst of all, they did this to the children too, who don't have the emotional or financial means to help. They further wound the wounded by their morally superior act. The make phony replies to reviews on other platforms. Also sketchy neighborhood, just off Colfax and no visble security as patients walk around outside. Family member died under suspicious circumstances and they couldn't get him to the crematorium fast enough

What follows is the text of the thank you note I was moved to send to the Sierra team on August 3, 2021:

It was for the saddest of reasons that I boarded a plane in Chicago last Wednesday (the 28th) and flew to Denver, and from there cabbed it to Lakewood. Sitting bedside while my childhood friend Eric Alenius drew his final breaths was incredibly difficult. But the courteousness, kindness, and solicitousness of every staff member I encountered during my two visits helped to cushion the ordeal. A special thanks to Kelly for her great thoughtfulness in telling me that when Eric learned I was coming he grew excited; considering that he was barely responsive during the hours I was with him, I don’t know how true this really was, which only adds to the thoughtfulness of the gesture. I remain also thankful for Kelly’s assistance in helping me find a place to stay that night. Also, a special shout-out to the cheerful gal who secured permission for me to sit with my friend an hour before the eight o’clock opening on my second visit when she saw me sitting outside waiting. I didn’t ask to be admitted early--she took it upon herself. Because of her thoughtfulness I was able to spend more time with my friend before I had to catch my return flight home. A special thanks also to the lovely lady who spent time answering additional questions in the hallway outside Eric’s room before I left (was her name Cheryl? My apologies if I am wrong).

God bless you all. You’re a great team doing great work in the one of the toughest jobs of all.

About this data
How to read this page
Star ratings vs. Care Quality Score: The Google star rating reflects visitor and family opinions collected from public reviews. The Care Quality Score is an independent metric derived entirely from federal inspection data — the two measure different things, and comparing them side-by-side gives a fuller picture.
Where this data comes from
All clinical data on this page originates from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the federal agency that certifies and inspects every Medicare- and Medicaid-participating nursing home in the United States. Reviews are imported verbatim from public Google business listings.
What to do next
Data is a starting point, not a final answer. We encourage families to visit facilities in person, observe daily routines, and speak with staff and residents. See our guide: Questions to Ask When Visiting →
