I went into AFib on vacation and also critically low magnesium! The paramedics had to shock my heart back into rhythm! The paramedics and the nurses both male and female as well as the doctors were very professional, respectful and caring! They saved my life! Thank you all so much!

Recently a black fly collided with my eye on a dog walk. Painful and then four days later with flashes and floaters, I checked myself in to the North Shore Health ER. I was greeted by Nurse Moree and then Dr. Taleb in what turned out to be a competent and compassionate two hour comprehensive exam. In every moment I was treated with respect, kindness, and even joyful fun to alleviate the stress I was feeling inside. I have read that "it depends who you get" here, as the shifts change. I guess I was blessed, lucky, fortunate. I have to say that for an ER visit, it could not have been better. Two thank-you cards, posting on the Grand Marais Community Web Site later, I am still grateful for the professional care that I received on June 6th. We never want to "get to know ER Staff" too well, because it means we have a crisis going on. Yet...if one has to ~ what a blessing to have this facility of professionals in our midst! Humbly Grateful. Scott S

3000 for a bag flow sugar water for heat exhaustion. Didn't care I had insurance. Would prefer you were dead if your poor.

About this data
How to read this page
Star ratings vs. Care Quality Score: The Google star rating reflects visitor and family opinions collected from public reviews. The Care Quality Score is an independent metric derived entirely from federal inspection data — the two measure different things, and comparing them side-by-side gives a fuller picture.
Where this data comes from
All clinical data on this page originates from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the federal agency that certifies and inspects every Medicare- and Medicaid-participating nursing home in the United States. Reviews are imported verbatim from public Google business listings.
What to do next
Data is a starting point, not a final answer. We encourage families to visit facilities in person, observe daily routines, and speak with staff and residents. See our guide: Questions to Ask When Visiting →
