Administrator is the most passive aggressive person i have met in my life. Takes days for implementation of services. Had a rash on my back. Took medical staff 39 hours to provide a medicine that required a shower only to be told I would have to wait until my day scheduled for a shower, two days away. Showers available only twice a week. No sign in/sign out procedures. I was gone for 5 hours for a post operation visit with my surgeon. No one asked where I was. No security. Anyone can walk in and take any patient they want. When I arrived, I was assigned to a room with a seriously mentally ill patient and had to share a bathroom with the room next door. Bathroom filthy with stained toilet bowls. Daughter got my roo. Changed. When I arrived the bathroom was two overflowing trash bins, filled with diapers from previous person. The toilet bowl seat was smaller than the toilet bowl. The food always arrived lukewarm or cold. The only positive were the CNAs and two LVNs. Never saw the assigned RN. Pitty the poor patients who are non verbal. The health department should make unannounced visits and talk to the patients.

I have told everybody about this place and all of the things that they do to keep all of the patients happy in the game room. I was very impressed with the Birthday party they have every month for all of the people that have birthdays that month. They decorate the room in birthday decorations and all of the patients are invited to attend the party and birthday cake is served. I have been here at a great time of the year because of the holidays and all of the special things they did for the residents. Every day there is something special going on that anybody can join in. I happen to love playing Bingo and the copies of real money they pay you if you win Bingo. The three girls that run the game room are wonderful. They are very upbeat and happy and pass their happiness on to everybody in the room. There is always music playing on the big screen or movies which are wonderful. I would be very unhappy if it were not for this great room and the people in here. Thanks Ernesto, Emily, Sonia, Blanca 😁

This should be zero ☆'s. I filed a formal complaint with the Health Department regarding Pelican Ridge (PR). My mother was transferred there on December 8 at approximately 6:00 p.m. The following morning, between 8–9 a.m., I received a call stating they needed intake questions answered because my mother was unable to respond. When I asked if she was simply tired, I was told, “Probably.” I arrived at 11:00 a.m. with my mother’s belongings, only to find her lying completely unresponsive in bed, with the right side of her face visibly drooping. I immediately called for a nurse and asked, “What is wrong with my mother?” The nurse responded, “Isn’t this her baseline?” I said, “Absolutely not. She was talking, eating, and sitting up yesterday. It appears she has suffered another stroke—this time on her right side.” My mother’s prior stroke affected her left side (arm and leg). This new stroke clearly affected her right side and her face—yet staff failed to recognize it. The nurse ran to get the Director of Nursing, Teesha (who is no longer employed there). She entered the room and said the same thing: “Isn’t this her baseline?” Moments later, visibly panicked, she said, “Call 911.” Unbelievable. Did no one read the hospital discharge notes stating my mother was alert, sitting up, talking, and eating? How long had she been lying there unresponsive? What if I hadn’t shown up when I did? I then attempted—over the course of a week—to contact Pelican Ridge at least 15 times. I left multiple messages. I was treated rudely, placed on hold indefinitely, or told shortly after calling back that the Director of Nursing was “out” (after previously being put on hold without explanation). I asked for the administrator—also “out.” When I asked, “Who is running this facility?” I received no answer. No one ever returned my calls. So when Pelican Ridge replies to reviews asking families to “leave your contact information,” know this: they do not call back. Today, the Health Department investigator contacted me. As with the vast majority of complaints against Pelican Ridge, the findings were “unsubstantiated.” In other words—nothing will be done. Staff provided coordinated, canned responses. The CNA claimed my mother had refused breakfast—something never mentioned to me. She also stated she had checked on my mother 30 minutes before I arrived and implied the stroke must have occurred in that window. Yet remember: PR had already told me earlier that morning my mother was unable to answer questions. The stories were aligned. PT, OT, CNA, and nursing leadership all protected one another. Documentation appears to have been adjusted accordingly. My mother passed away shortly thereafter. The neglect at Pelican Ridge is not just disturbing—it is dangerous. If you love your family member, do not allow them to be placed here.

About this data
How to read this page
Star ratings vs. Care Quality Score: The Google star rating reflects visitor and family opinions collected from public reviews. The Care Quality Score is an independent metric derived entirely from federal inspection data — the two measure different things, and comparing them side-by-side gives a fuller picture.
Where this data comes from
All clinical data on this page originates from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the federal agency that certifies and inspects every Medicare- and Medicaid-participating nursing home in the United States. Reviews are imported verbatim from public Google business listings.
