If you have a parent and can’t be there to supervise everyday. Please don’t put them in this place. I would need an hour to write what goes on there. I went on Christmas and her teeth haven’t been brushed in months. Her gums are red and swollen. She screamed in pain when I tried to brush them. They don’t care about these patients. It’s a shame that’s how you live out your final years. My brother and I don’t live near, and it’s not easy going to see her. She can’t answer the phone now. And in one month she doesn’t know who I am. They have swept away at least 4 pairs of hearing aids. But won’t replace them unless I go there and say something. She can’t eat by herself. Yet I see no one helping. Awful! I have complained over and over. To the State. I just called now. Let’s see what happens.. I’m sure nothing. She’s reduced to an infant, without care. What an awful way to spend your final years.

I was a visitor, my experience of the facility was that it was clean with big bright pictures. The Staff was kind and very helpful. The staff was also very attentive to the patients.

My brother was admitted to Norwalk Care Center. The facility has no running water. I learned this was due to Legionnaires’ disease in the building’s water system. In the meantime, patients were told to bathe with disposable wipes (so they can't brush their teeth??), meals were served on paper plates. The entire building smells terrible and feels dirty and unhygienic. Makes you want to vomit. The rooms and furniture are very old, with metal beds and stained chairs, and the place overall does not feel clean or safe. The phone is his room doesn't work, so we cannot reach loved ones directly. The internet and wifi service is terrible. I also worry for my brother’s safety — if he were to fall, I don’t know how anyone would even know, because staff barely check on him. Based on what I have seen and experienced, I would never ever recommend Norwalk Care Center. The conditions are unsanitary, the care is lacking, and the environment is unsafe for vulnerable patients. I cannot wait until my brother can leave this place. STAY AWAY!

Legionnaire’s I do not recommend for your family or loved ones My son was admitted to Norwalk Care Center on September 11, 2025 after being transferred from Norwalk Hospital. By the next day (September 12) the facility had no running water, and as of September 14 it still was not restored. I was later told this was because the building has Legionnaires’ disease in the water system, so they had to shut it off. Patients were told to bathe with disposable cloths, meals were served on paper plates, and I saw peanut butter and jelly sandwiches in plastic bags being given instead of proper meals. My son requires a Mediterranean-style diet for health reasons, but this was ignored. The phones in patient rooms do not work, so families cannot reach loved ones directly. Calls only go to the nurses’ station, but staff are often too busy to answer. During my visit I smelled fecal matter near the reception area, likely due to unflushed toilets. When I raised concerns about hygiene, food safety, and patient dignity, the facility manager was dismissive and told me my son could be moved if I didn’t like it. The building itself is very dated — metal beds, stained chairs, old furniture, and no clear directions for visitors to reach patient rooms. I also noticed the receptionist was busy with personal calls instead of assisting families. I am extremely concerned about the health, safety, and quality of care at this facility. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Norwalk Care Center to anyone seeking proper, compassionate care for their loved ones.
