The staff here is amazing. You always feel welcomed, and acknowledged in this building. I have been in several nursing homes and assisted living facilities, that do not compare to the quality of staff and service at Autumn Lake Windsor. I would feel at ease knowing my loved one was residing and being cared for by this staff. What an amazing community.

Update: my mom ended up leaving there on December 29th. Overall the care was not bad. One of the issues was they were short staffed if you call the facility no one answered at the nursing station, the nursing supervisors office, or the rehab center. They weren't always quick to respond when people rang the nurses button because they didn't have enough people. And that could be bad if someone is choking or they fall or they need a diaper change whatever. I was probably down there almost every single day because I couldn't get answers over the phone. I believe this issue is everywhere not just there. I had to constantly advocate for her to get things done but they did get done. But the place had just gotten bought out it was much nicer than when my mom was there 7 years ago and I know they're doing more renovations. 80% of the staff was wonderful there was a couple people there that were kind of b***** but most of them were really great. Overall it wasn't bad, little bit disorganized but I don't think you're going to find any place that's going to be perfect. If you put someone in there whether it's a nursing home or rehab you need to constantly be aware of what's going on and you need to constantly advocate to get things done if you don't it's not going to be good for them.

My mom just went there on Friday 12/5. She was at this facility 7 years ago when she had her other knee replaced and the place is so nice the whole place has been painted the hallways the rooms and they're doing more Renovations since they got bought out a month ago. The staff there is wonderful I can't remember all of the names but Tanya Lydia and Mary are three of the nurses and they're great very attentive & Georgia is one of her nurse's aides. She's a wonderful person who really helps my mom with her anxiety. And they've been taking really good care of her. .

Relative sent there for hospice care. Our experience was that the staff is not appropriately trained and/or communicated to regarding hospice patients. Only because we were able to quickly engage an outside hospice care vendor did we receive appropriate services for a woman who had literally days to live. Although staff was overall friendly and approachable and her medications were dispensed reliably, there was a disconnect about diet and multiple other unnecessary rehab service consultations. Only because we remained at bedside throughout the daytime hours were we able to redirect staff from agitating her. Many providers actually seemed unaware of her hospice status and ended up embarrassed about the interaction. In short, the family felt like there was an oppositional relationship with the medical staff who seemed ill-equipped temperamentally to tend to a woman in transition. At this point, I would not recommend Autumn Lake for hospice care. Furthermore, we have been doing battle with the business side of the house as well. The process of being reimbursed nearly $12,000 has been painful to say the least. It has taken far too many phone calls over multiple weeks to the Windsor facility and at AL HQ to finally get a check sent to us. Unfortunately, our instructions regarding who to make the check out to were ignored, so we might still be waiting for our funds. I find it curious that literally the only part of our relationship with Autumn Lake that went smoothly was when they cashed our original check. This facility has issues up and down the chain of responsibility and no one has offered us the opportunity to submit formal feedback despite my request to do so.

The staff are kind people but the quality of care provided for my grandmother was unacceptably low. The staff repeatedly failed to get her to the bus that came to pick her up on time (she was unable to move herself), resulting in her missing all of her appointments with doctors. The quality of the food served was extremely poor. The assistance button in her room did not work so she was unable to get the attention of nurses when she required help. I understand that the facility is currently undergoing some changes but until improvements are made I would recommend anyone to avoid this place.

How to read this page
Star ratings vs. Care Quality Score: The Google star rating reflects visitor and family opinions collected from public reviews. The Care Quality Score is an independent metric derived entirely from federal inspection data — the two measure different things, and comparing them side-by-side gives a fuller picture.
Where this data comes from
All clinical data on this page originates from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the federal agency that certifies and inspects every Medicare- and Medicaid-participating nursing home in the United States. Reviews are imported verbatim from public Google business listings.
