Shame on the Joint Commission for accrediting this facility.

I have personally seen the care that is given at Gilman Healthcare. The residents are loved. The staff treats them as family members. They always have a activity going that is of interest to many and often have "special days" to celebrate with treats. I would trust my love ones here and really do commend the staff for their hard work.

I go to see my mother every week , sometimes twice a week. Being there less than 2 years and I can say everything has been so far so good with her and her surroundings. Speaking for her and her care , there has been no problems that I see with her. Food is great and her room an bathroom she shares is always on the up an up. Her eyesight is her problem an walks with a walker all the time. She never talks down about anyone or anything. Always has a good disposition about everything and where she's at. She picked GHC and she made the decision to stay her. Thank you for keeping our mother happy. See you guys next week......

Edit: Google didn't report my review. Gilman Healthcare just can't handle the truth and they have to lie. They even have their staff creating ridiculous reviews to get their ratings up. Sad.

If I could give 0 stars to write a review I would. Rude staff, nasty facility, they treat their residents like absolute garbage. We’re suppose to trust that our loved ones are properly cared for and it’s heart breaking to know they’re not. This place needs shut down. Our family member passed away that was a current resident and the family didn’t even receive sincere condolences. They were just on to the next resident. Absolutely sickening. If you want your loved ones cared for, do NOT bring them here.

EDIT TO ADD: you see the facilities response to my review? I'm assuming they reported the review and are posting that to make it seem like I am violating Googles terms of service - which I am not. I manage Google reviews as my job & do what they're trying to do here - which is remove my review because they don't want others seeing it. Google only removed reviews that ACTUALLY violate their rules. They did the same to the review my SIL left too & now they're having their employees leave 5 star reviews to cover these up. Terrible.

ORIGINAL REVIEW: The only relief I have of my father passing is that he doesn't have to suffer at this place any longer. All it took was 6 months of being in their care before he passed. He initially went in for PT for a broken bone and never got to come back home. Regardless of the illness he had (which he had been dealing with for years before coming here) I fully believe this facility neglected him, causing his wounds and condition to worsen. I dont think they cared for him as they should have.

Multiple times on the phone he would tell me the staff yelled at him and told him not to tell anyone that they weren't watching him or helping him, when he was a fall risk. He had multiple instances of falling and hurting himself, not eating, not receiving medication. And the staff, including the ADMINISTRATOR was RUDE. They talked down to my family with sarcasm, and like we were idiots for asking how things happened. We even caught them in falsifying a record of medicine being given and they "investigated" and of course had an answer, or excuse, of what happened. The administrator even said on the phone "were not covering up anything here" - Hmm why would you say that if you weren't actually covering anything up.

I am sick that this was the only place my father could go and that the last 6 months of his life he had to live here. As we came to pick up personal effects after his passing, we were greeted with boxes and hardly any care or condolences. They said they're so compassionate, but we received not even a card for his loss.

Oh - and while visiting the one time I was able, I heard a staff member yelling at a patient across from my dad's room. She was a non verbal patient who yelled, and the staff member was threatening to leave this lady in the visiting room by herself because "no one wants to hear you yelling". She came out closing the door, but when she saw family was there she turned so nice and went back in to get the lady.

The facility itself is DIRTY and falling apart. I felt disgusted and sorry for all the people who had to be there. It should be shut down.

About this data
How to read this page
Star ratings vs. Care Quality Score: The Google star rating reflects visitor and family opinions collected from public reviews. The Care Quality Score is an independent metric derived entirely from federal inspection data — the two measure different things, and comparing them side-by-side gives a fuller picture.
Where this data comes from
All clinical data on this page originates from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the federal agency that certifies and inspects every Medicare- and Medicaid-participating nursing home in the United States. Reviews are imported verbatim from public Google business listings.
What to do next
Data is a starting point, not a final answer. We encourage families to visit facilities in person, observe daily routines, and speak with staff and residents. See our guide: Questions to Ask When Visiting →
