If your loved one requires assistance with eating or drinking while here, the CNAs make little effort to help and instead let the patient become dangerously dehydrated. This was confirmed by ER doctors at a nearby hospital. CNAs and management have little incentive to care because Tennessee law makes it nearly impossible to sue any nursing home. There are much better facilities in Knoxville that employ staff who care.

Words can not describe the blessing having my husband as a resident at Ben Atchley. The moment you walk in the foyer you are treated with respect . The staff in Wing D is amazing. The level of care and attention

My father and mother lived at Ben Atchley Tennessee State Veterans Home from March 2025 until December 2025. My mother passed away in October and my father in December. During their time living there they were well taken care of by the staff, enjoyed the food and were treated with dignity and respect. Charlene and all of the other staff were wonderful to my parents. I can not thank them enough.

Although my wife was only there for a short time I was extremely impressed. The staff was very professional and very caring, both the medical and the administrative. I only wish that I had gotten her there sooner. Can’t say enough good things about the people there. I would recommend it to anyone.
