I was visiting a friend of my mother's for over a month at Avalon. I was horrified by the lack of concern for the patients. The lever of care was inexcusable. Example I went in one day. Above her bed was a large sign that said THIS PATIENT MUST BE FED! A she was not capable of feeding herself. I come in the room. She is all alone, there is a plate on her lap. There is food all over her face, her hands, the blankets, the wall and the floor. I was livid to say the least. After finding one nurses station un attended, and nobody in the halls, I went to the other nurses station where they were chatting and chewing their cups. I made my displeasure known, and quite loudly. I insisted they send someone at once to clean the mess. Then bring another plate of food and I fed her myself. Appalling!!!

There is nothing that I can possibly say that would change my mind or my familyβs mind about the way this place operates. My mother treatment was horrendous! Although her caregivers were generally nice their policies just suck. Very little recuperating therapy. No call buttons if you need help you have to walk to the nurse desk and ask for it. After five days in mother had a bump and a bruise on her forehead because of the lack of night nursing, they accidentally tipped over a nightstand onto my mother and could not justify her Bruising! I have to stress that lying in a bed, staring at a blank wall is no way to recuperate or to get stronger and her will to live after being in that room was lost. I was with her every day. The only thing I didnβt do was sleep overnight with her. The food is horrendous and let me stress there is no Therapy for strength and recovery. Period do not take your loved ones here, please. Let me also add that there is no ventilation in the rooms no open windows No circulating air noisy hall so you canβt leave the door open. If you are in the room, the stench is unbearable.

About this data
How to read this page
Star ratings vs. Care Quality Score: The Google star rating reflects visitor and family opinions collected from public reviews. The Care Quality Score is an independent metric derived entirely from federal inspection data β the two measure different things, and comparing them side-by-side gives a fuller picture.
Where this data comes from
All clinical data on this page originates from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the federal agency that certifies and inspects every Medicare- and Medicaid-participating nursing home in the United States. Reviews are imported verbatim from public Google business listings.
