We had an absolutely wonderful experience at Hillside Nursing and Rehab in Wake Forest, NC. From start to finish, the staff went above and beyond.

The admissions team was fantastic, getting my mother in quickly and setting everything up smoothly. The physical therapy staff provided excellent care, offering high-quality support and treatment that truly made a difference. Thanks to them, my mother left the facility much stronger and more confident than when she arrived—they are truly outstanding.

The nursing staff was extraordinary—warm, compassionate, and genuinely attentive. They treated my mother not just as a patient, but as a person, always showing kindness, patience, and respect. Every need was anticipated, every concern met, and their genuine care made her feel safe and valued.

What impressed us most was how they handled her medical appointments. They drove her to her doctors, stayed with her during visits, paid close attention to the doctors’ instructions, and then briefed both my mother and the staff so everyone was on the same page. My mother’s concerns were always heard and addressed—her health and comfort were clearly their top priority.

The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well-equipped with individual temperature control and TVs. The food was good, considering how challenging it is to serve so many people, and they mostly did a great job keeping it hot and fresh.

The personal care and attention were truly exceptional. The facility was beautifully decorated for the holidays, adding a joyful, homey touch. My mother even made friends and was genuinely sad to leave—a clear reflection of the supportive, compassionate environment.

A special highlight: they even allowed her dog, Santini, to visit daily, which brought her immense joy. Not all facilities go this extra mile, and it really set Hillside apart.

Hillside Nursing and Rehab doesn’t just provide care—it provides warmth, compassion, respect, and results at every turn. We cannot say enough good things about this facility; it is truly exceptional

My 78yo mother was at Hillside for several weeks following hip replacement surgery and medical complications from the procedure. She received very good care there and if she or my father need rehab in the future they said they will choose Hillside again. The staff was professional and attentive. The physical and occupational therapists were excellent and my mother feels much stronger than when she arrived. The treatment goals and discharge plan were patient centered and determined collaboratively with my mother and her family. There was an orientation meeting including family shortly after arrival that clearly explained what we could expect over the course of her stay. Another bonus is the rooms in the rehab section are single rooms. Thumbs up to Hillside. It is nice to be able to trust your loved ones are receiving good care when they are in a vulnerable position.

Hillside was a great resource for my 88-year-old mom after she underwent emergency abdominal surgery and an 11-day stay in the hospital. She was discharged to Hillside for rehab in late May 2025 and was there for a little more than 5 weeks (until early July). Thanks to the great care she got from nurses/CNAs/aides, PT/OT department, the dietician, the activities director and virtually everyone she met, mom made a remarkable recovery and is now home and regaining her independence. As she told just about everyone she met, "I'd recommend this place to anyone." I should note that this is focused on the rehab unit, as there are other parts of the operation we did not utilize. Hats off to Hillside!

I had a spectacular review, but it was removed! DO NOT TAKE YOUR ELDERLY LOVED ONE HERE TO GET HEALED! It won't happen. They will be mistreated, get COVID, neglected and end up back in the hospital. Thanks Hillside. My dad is no longer with us.

My 92 year old mother has been in Hillside for rehab after being hospitalized for pneumonia. When she arrived, she was not able to turn over, lift her legs or do anything for herself. Now she is scooting herself around in a wheelchair and can stand and walk short distances. The speech, physical and occupational therapists; and the medical staff have been wonderful. They push her, but respect her limits. The aids are generally very good. Of course, she has her favorites. There have been a few days that they were understaffed, but the people working seemed to do their best. Everyone I have encountered has been friendly and helpful (I have spent a lot of time there). They serve alot of fried foods, but you can opt for salads or sandwiches. Snacks could include healthier choices. I saw no bugs, and they clean rooms/bathrooms and change bedding at least once per day. My mom can't wait to go home next week, but said she will miss the people. The reviews for Hillside made me nervous about sending my mom here, but the hospital said they send many people to Hillside, and the private room appealed to me. I'm glad we took the chance. For her, it has been a very positive experience.

About this data
How to read this page
Star ratings vs. Care Quality Score: The Google star rating reflects visitor and family opinions collected from public reviews. The Care Quality Score is an independent metric derived entirely from federal inspection data — the two measure different things, and comparing them side-by-side gives a fuller picture.
Where this data comes from
All clinical data on this page originates from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the federal agency that certifies and inspects every Medicare- and Medicaid-participating nursing home in the United States. Reviews are imported verbatim from public Google business listings.
